I just wanted to post a little update today since I’ve been away for a bit. My little family celebrated the spring and the holiday with some exploring, sightseeing…. and lots and lots of driving. Too much driving. If I never see the inside of a car again, it’ll be too soon (and I love my car).
Okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic. But I’m definitely enjoying the opportunity to sip some coffee, stretch my legs, and write this morning. Sometimes, all it takes is the inability to do something for a while to make it that much more appealing when the opportunity resurfaces. Grass is always greener and all that.
Speaking of green (no, not that kind. …Not that kind, either. lol) I am absolutely blown away by spring! This seems like such a weird thing for a person to be fascinated by in their 30s, but I’ve spent most of my life in Florida and the few times I’ve lived out of state, prior to our big move, were just summertime gigs. I never was around for the changing of the seasons – Florida really is beautiful and tropical, and it stays that way year-round. It’s great for a lot of reasons, but you definitely miss out on that variety as the weather changes.
I’ve always heard lot about fall, of course, and I am so so super excited to watch that first-hand, but the springtime… it does not get enough hype. One day, everything is gray and brown and dead-looking… then suddenly, as if someone flipped a switch, everything just wakes up and you’ve got blue skies, vibrant green grass with flowers peeking out at you. The trees sprout their leaves and birds frantically chirp from the treetops as if they’re just as excited as this weird ole woman walking around, completely fascinated by the changes in her yard. Sometimes, I want to yell back to them, “I know, right?! This is too freaking cool!!” (I refrain from it — neighbors are pretty close and I don’t want to concern them lol)
But enough on spring, let’s talk books! Despite all the traveling and holiday activity, I have managed to work on Chorus Mortem and I should sail through these next big plot points. I couldn’t write while I drove, but I had a lot of time to think and flesh out some of the paths I’m sending my characters down. It’s exciting, I think it’s going to be a really fun ride and I can’t wait to get these words down so you all can let me know what you think!
With that, I’ll end this little update and get back to the project at hand. As always, thanks for reading! I hope you all have a fantastic rest of your week!
